We come across many questions in our day-to-day operations and we are only to happy to answer them. Here are some of our frequently asked questions - simply click on the Question to reveal the answer.

This is a great question, and the answer is...it depends.

Not all builders have the resources to offer services within the Design Development phase of a project, however there are a number of builders that do provide this service.

MudgeCorp offers a Design Development service and we have great relationships with consultants like architects, designers and engineers. By collaborating with the experts in each field we can come up with the perfect solution for your project.

Take a look at our Essential Checklist for a little more info on the 'design phase' http://www.mudgecorp.com.au/your-essential-checklist.

We certainly can, and we do!

A good builder will provide evidence to you for the increases in both Prime Cost and Provisional Sum items.
A great builder will provide evidence, but also explain in detail the reasons for the increase and look to save money where possible.

The NSW Fair Trading website provides a lot of important information for both us as an employer, a contractor and for you as a client.
This link will take you straight a registration check. https://www.onegov.nsw.gov.au/publicregister/#/publicregister/search/Trades
Type in our registered business name: Developing Business Pty Ltd. There we are!

In this same location you can type in the full name of our project managers and/or the Managing Director Stephen Mudge to confirm the individual licence held.

A 'Prime Cost' item is an allowance in the contract for the supply of certain items which have not been specifically selected yet.
This allows you as the client to take the time to decide on the product that you desire rather than be pressured to select it all in advance.

'Provisional Sum' items are allowances for specific elements of work that is not yet defined in enough detail for tenderers to price.

We love that you have asked this!
At MudgeCorp we have a designated division for project maintenance.
We want you to enjoy your home and our priority is to provide superior quality in everything we do. If a defect did appear, we would promptly arrange for our Maintenance Manager to attend the property and rectify the issue.

This really depends on the builder. Make sure that you understand the proposal provided to you by your chosen builder.
At MudgeCorp we clearly show the contract price, and explain this contract price in detail.
We also explain the exclusions to the contract and provide options for alternative products and finishes.

MudgeCorp is available to start as soon as the time is right. Although we understand the urgency to start, we also understand the process to ensure that we have ‘all the ducks in a row’. We will partner with you and your design team to make this as smooth as possible.

We always recommend to involve your builder from the design phase (if possible) as this enables them to assist with ensuring the design meets practicality, without the unnecessary costs!

Practical Completion is reached when the project/home is 'fit for occupation'
This enables you as the client to occupy the premises prior to official completion, and us as the builder to ensure you receive the quality finish that you expect and deserve.

This is a very common question!

First of all relevant experience is very important. Look for a builder that has experience in projects of a similar, size, style and complexity to yours.

Secondly, industry recognition is a big tick! Award-winning builders are acknowledged for excellence in quality, budget management and client satisfaction. If you select a builder with consistent awards for excellence then you are definitely on the right track!

Our final suggestion would be to trust your instincts.

  • How do you feel about the company?
  • How do they present themselves?
  • How are your dealings with the team?
  • Do you feel insecure about them, or do you feel like they have your best interest at heart?

Of course, please make sure you check for a valid Builders Licence and be sure to make sure that there are no outstanding claims against them.

You may request a variation to the contract at any time throughout the duration of the project.
We will provide a quote on what this variation will cost and what it will cover.
It will then be added to the invoice at the appropriate claim stage.

At MudgeCorp we will provide you with a Project Manager who will manage your project from start to finish.
This means that you can be confident knowing that your project is in good hands. It also means you can contact your Project Manager at any time with questions, changes and to arrange a visit to see the progress.

Any extras/exclusions will be noted within our original proposal and within the final contract.
If you are ever unsure about whether something has or has not been included then we want you to ask us.
